Chairperson & Umpiring Secretary / Level 1 Coach Yr 4 DEV & Yr U12 & U13 & U16 COMP GROUPS

I have continued playing netball for 35 years from a teenager at school to competitive netball in various adult leagues. In 2006 I gained my Umpire 'C' Award, and then my Level 1 Coaching Award in 2008 and as I have a passion for umpiring I achieved my Umpiring 'B' Award in 2010. I joined the Magnet Netball Club in 2007 as I wanted to give back to the sport I love and provide the local girls with the same opportunities that I have experienced. I recently became Chair in Sept 2019 and looking forward to a fantastic year with the club.

I first started with the Magnet Netball Club in 2003 and worked alongside Gina Macgregor as her assistant. Since then I have gained both my Level 1 and Level 2 coaching qualifications and have been extremely active in bringing the club to where it is today coaching approx 120 members a week. I have played netball all my life and also gained my Umpiring 'C' Award in 2005. I am extremely passionate about girls of any standard being given the opportunity to play netball competitively or for recreation in the hope that they will continue the sport through into adulthood and gain as much pleasure from it as I have. After many years I stepped down as Chairperson in Sept 2019 but still in a supporting role as Vice.

I have been involved with netball since I was a 9 year old when I played Centre for school and by 15 yrs old I was playing in the Ealing Adult League. I then coached the team, became secretary of the league for 13 yrs until I moved to Maidenhead. As Maidenhead had no netball I started up my own league, known as MDNL in 1971/2 with 12 teams and one awful court with tree stumps. In 1991 I started another league in Sunningdale which now thrives as Charters Triple SSS League and I was an active committee member of Berkshire County Netball for 20 years. I gained my Umpiring 'B' Award and was presented with an M.B.E in 2005 by the Queen. I started the Magnet Netball Club back in 2002 on my own and I am immensely proud of the development of the club and where it has progressed to today. I believe that netball is for 'everyone' not just 'the best'. If someone enjoys it, they should play it.

As a passionate player throughout my school life I was thrilled over ten years ago when my eldest daughter took up the sport and trained with the Magnet Netball Club, little did I know how involved I would get . I started as a helper at tournaments and watched training sessions to help me develop lesson plans for sessions I ran at my daughter's Primary School . Sally then asked if I would actually like to be a coach and encouraged me to take my Level 1 which I passed over 6 years ago and in 2016 I passed my Level 2. I have managed teams at Charters and currently in the Berkshire League and I have watched girls progress to a high standard. I have loved encouraging girls who love the sport and want to play at all levels.

I have played netball almost all my life - since being picked out of a line up of 'tall girls' at primary school aged seven, and having reached six foot by the age of a ten and a half, I was then a regular for the school team! At senior school I was part of a team playing competitively at national level, and was selected for county level training and my university's team. Despite injuries halting my game, after graduation, I played for a ladies advertising agency league in London, locally in the Wycombe league and for the last ten years, the Maidenhead ladies league. I now have a young family, and my daughter is enjoying netball as much as I still do! I am enjoying coaching immensely and love giving back to a sport I have played all my life. In 2016 I passed my Level 1 Coaching award and would like to take my Level 2 within the next 2 years.

I started coaching at the Magnet Netball Club when I realized all my three girls were playing for the club and I could be more useful getting involved rather than watching from the sidelines. I have always loved the game of netball, playing for Berks county as a junior, and different local clubs. Most of my best friends are netballers and I believe it is a sport that develops friendships that endure forever....Unfortunately through injury I can't play anymore but I want to give some of my love of netball to the next generation through coaching. I passed my Level 1 Coaching Certificate in August 2017 and hope this is just the start of my coaching journey.

I have played netball from school to club level for the last 30 years and have a great love of the sport. I surprisingly manage to stay keen playing even now in subzero temperatures, rain and snow.

With a daughter who, in 2016, is 8 I think team sports, building a relationship with other players, supporting and relying on each other is such key skills to learn. Along with healthy competitiveness.

I feel I am in a position to help new netballers' to develop these skills and I feel privileged to be able to watch them grow and improve.

I am waiting to complete my Level 2 Coaching Course in the next few weeks.

I have a great love of all sports and i am very keen on teaching netball to young players that haven't had the chance to play before, its fantastic to see the development from never holding a ball before to then eventually shooting a goal. I started playing netball when i was 5 years old and have been involved in it one way or another due to my mum, I never thought i would get the chance to coach and help start the love for netball in young players. I plan to achieve my Level 1 Coaching Certificate in the new year.

I have played netball for the last 15 years and not long after starting I joined a team in Division 4 in the MDNL at Kidwells Park. Over the next few years I worked my way up and finally reach Premier Division in 2010. As I love netball so much, when I was approached to be an Assistant Coach at the Magnet Netball Club I jumped at the chance. I was encouraged to take my Level 1 Coaching netball exam and passed in July 2011. I have now been coaching for >6 years, and I feel a great sense of achievement watching the children blossom from beginners to confident netball players.

I started playing netball in school and college but I have been playing adult netball for nearly 30 years for various teams.

With my passion for netball I finally got my C Umpiring award in 2014 and been helping umpiring for the Magnet netball club over the years.

Then I wanted to give something back to netball so I decided to take my level 1 coaching so I could volunteer at the Magnet Netball club to help coach the youngsters.

Encouragement, support and understanding are great qualities to offer anyone in life. Ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate and develop is a key element to coaching…that's why I qualified as a level 2 Netball coach alongside Sally Gray at the Magnets club.

Having coached a variety of ages- mostly the competition squads - in a club environment I was pleased to offer my support to the Magnet Club as SFO. My previous employment had provided me with expert knowledge in that area.

Currently I coach netball and athletics in the school system and thoroughly enjoy seeing the children participate in sport and develop their skills as they train and play. whatever the sport, inspire children to experience as much as possible, enjoying the physical fitness sport offers and learning to play as a team!
