Chairperson & Umpiring Secretary / Level 1 Coach U13/14, U16 & U19 COMP GROUPS & 'B' Umpire
I continued playing netball for 37 years from a teenager at school to competitive netball in various adult leagues. In 2006 I gained my Umpire 'C' Award, and then my Level 1 Coaching Award in 2008 and as I have a passion for umpiring I achieved my Umpiring 'B' Award in 2010. I joined the Magnet Netball Club in 2007 as I wanted to give back to the sport I love and provide the local girls with the same opportunities that I have experienced. I recently became Chair in Sept 2019 and looking forward to some fantastic years ahead.
Vice Chair & Treasurer
I first started with the Magnet Netball Club in 2003 and worked alongside Gina Macgregor as her assistant. Since then I have gained both my Level 1 and Level 2 coaching qualifications and have been extremely active in bringing the club to where it is today coaching approx 120 members a week. I have played netball all my life and also gained my Umpiring 'C' Award in 2005. I am extremely passionate about girls of any standard being given the opportunity to play netball competitively or for recreation in the hope that they will continue the sport through into adulthood and gain as much pleasure from it as I have. After many years I stepped down as Chairperson in Sept 2019 but still in a supporting role as Vice. In Sept 2023 I retired from coaching and I am currently looking after the accounts in the role as Treasurer.
President /Coaches Mentor/ Ladies Back to Netball & Yr 4 - Yr 9 General Netball @ Leisure Focus
I have been involved with netball since I was a 9 year old when I played Centre for school and by 15 yrs old I was playing in the Ealing Adult League. I then coached the team, became secretary of the league for 13 yrs until I moved to Maidenhead. As Maidenhead had no netball I started up my own league, known as MDNL in 1971/2 with 12 teams and one awful court with tree stumps. In 1991 I started another league in Sunningdale which now thrives as Charters Triple SSS League and I was an active committee member of Berkshire County Netball for 20 years. I gained my Umpiring 'B' Award and was presented with an M.B.E in 2005 by the Queen. I started the Magnet Netball Club back in 2002 on my own and I am immensely proud of the development of the club and where it has progressed to today. I believe that netball is for 'everyone' not just 'the best'. If someone enjoys it, they should play it.
Player Development Officer, Level 2 Coach U13 COMP GROUP
As a passionate player throughout my school life I was thrilled over ten years ago when my eldest daughter took up the sport and trained with the Magnet Netball Club, little did I know how involved I would get . I started as a helper at tournaments and watched training sessions to help me develop lesson plans for sessions I ran at my daughter's Primary School . Sally then asked if I would actually like to be a coach and encouraged me to take my Level 1 which I passed several ago and in 2016 I passed my Level 2. I have managed teams at Charters and currently in the Berkshire League and I have watched girls progress to a high standard. I have loved encouraging girls who love the sport and want to play at all levels. I also assist at the Berkshire Satellite Academy for Berkshire Netball.
Level 2 Coach U14 COMP & SOUTH REGION GROUPS
I have played team sports my whole life, playing professional Rugby League in Australia and 1st Grade Cricket in Sydney. I currently hold an Australian Cricket Level 2 coaching competence which is the highest level attainable for someone who hasn't played test cricket. I got involved with netball because after COVID my youngest daughter asked me to coach her school netball team or they would not be able to play. So I started out and got my level 1 Netball England qualification and thought to help out the club as well and continue my Netball education! In general I like to coach to repay the favor's bestowed upon me by my past coaches. They instilled in me toughness, determination, and the ability to persevere in the face of adversity. Colin McGregor, my childhood cricket coach, taught me that doing things well was worth the effort in the long run. I hope I can pass on these learned qualities to the girls, preparing them for their future as confident adults.
Level 2 Coach U15 & U16 COMP GROUPS
I started playing netball when I was at primary school and have never really stopped! I enjoy the sense of team spirit you get from playing netball and the opportunities it gives not only to stay fit and active but to make new friends. So when both my daughters expressed an interest in wanting to play, that was the start of our journey with Magnet Netball Club! Having initially offered to ‘help out’ on odd occasions with my daughters’ year groups, I realized how much I enjoyed getting involved and being able to ‘give back’ to the next generation of netballers. I achieved my Level 1 coaching in September 2019 my Level 2 in January 2022.
Membership Secretary, Level 1 Coach U13's / U15's COMP & 'C' Umpire
I started out on my netball journey at the age of 16 after playing it at school. I joined a local team playing in Slough and then after moving teams and joining the Maidenhead & District League I soon realised that I actually quite enjoyed the organising side of things as well so became a divisional secretary at MDNL, which I continued to do for over 20+ years. At the same time I passed my level C Award umpiring and have been doing that for also nearly 20 Years. I am currently the Vice Chair at MDNL
My Magnets story started when my daughter turned 6 years old, she wanted to give netball a go as they didn’t really play it at school. She started training and playing in Y2 and currently is playing in the Y10’s BJNL Team, she has also just passed her INTO umpiring award and will carry on to get her C Award. I was asked if I could help with the membership side of things as “im good with computers”, I’ve been membership secretary for about 7 years now, helping with arranging trials, completing registration forms and ensuring the girls are all signed on ready to play.
When my daughter started playing competitively I volunteered to help umpire them as I was always on the sidelines watching anyway. I have recently moved into coaching as I love the interaction with the girls and seeing them improve is so rewarding. I passed my Level 1 Coaching in September 2023 and I am now working towards my Level 2 Coaching.
I have so many friends in my life that have come from netball, its definitely part of who I am!
Safeguarding Officer, Level 1 Coach U14's COMP
It is a privilege to serve in this role since I am a passionate netball player myself and it gives me an opportunity to give back to the sport that I know and love. I started playing netball at primary school and went on to represent my county as well as my secondary school and university. I have been playing women’s club netball since I was 14 years old with a few breaks here and there due to work, travel and family commitments. As one of my daughters is also a netball enthusiast and enjoys playing for Magnet under 13’s (2023) at the time of writing, it seems natural to support the club with my skillset and help the next generation enjoy competition and team spirit.
I have experience in the safeguarding of young people both through my job as a health care professional, and through previous voluntary positions I have undertaken as a school governor and church youth/children’s work.
I believe that club members perform best on court and experience the highest levels of enjoyment when they train and play in a safe and inclusive environment. Netball is a fantastic way of keeping physically and mentally healthy; keeping the netball space as a kind and nurturing place is vital to achieving this.
Club Volunteer Officer
I have been involved with netball for many years after setting up "Netbal Nippers" when I couldn't find a club for my daughter to attend.
Too many women and girls across many communities were missing out on being active and the joy of sport. I wanted to change this, because sport can change lives, build stronger futures and build healthier and happier people.
I am also very passionate about gender equality in sport and recently received an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to women's sport.
I am on the board of trustees at Women in Sport and foster the charity’s mission to give every woman and girl the opportunity and inspiration to take part in sport.
I am more than happy to be part of the Magnet Netball Club and help whenever and wherever I can.
Level 2 Coach Yr 4 - Yr 9 General Netball @ Leisure Focus
I have a great love of all sports and I am very keen on teaching netball to young players that haven't had the chance to play before, its fantastic to see the development from never holding a ball before to then eventually being able to pass to a team mate and gain a shooting opportunity. I started playing netball when I was 5 years old and have been involved in it one way or another due to my mum, Gina Macgregor MBE, I never thought I would get the chance to coach and help start the love for netball in young players. I am now very proud to have achieved my Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Awards.
Level 1 Coach, General Helper & Umpire
I started playing netball in school and college but I have been playing adult netball for nearly 31 years for various teams.
With my passion for netball I finally got my C Umpiring award in 2014 and been helping umpiring for the Magnet netball club over the years.
Then I wanted to give something back to netball so I decided to take my level 1 coaching so I could volunteer at the Magnet Netball club to help coach the youngsters.
